The history of Château Laujac began in the conquest of Gaulle since the names ending in “ac” often referred to a Gallo-Roman villa. The lands of the estate first belonged to the family of Aujeard and were bought after the Revolution by Mr. de Villeminot, a supplier of war Napoleon. It is to this man that we owe the building of the Castle, built in 1810 in a neoclassical style. In 1824, the domain enters the Cabarrus family before being sold to the Cruse family in 1852. The vineyard is passed down from generation to generation and faces phylloxera invasion, world wars and severe frost before arriving in the hands of Bernard Cruse in 1957. In a few years he restructures the vineyard, undertakes a work of preservation of the ecosystem through a reasoned viticulture and modernizes the technical tools of vinification. After 55 grape harvests, this passionate and passionate man passes on the property to his daughter Vanessa and his son-in-law René-Philippe Duboscq in 2012. Since then, the couple has been working hand-in-hand every day in the continuity of the vineyard reconstruction effort. respecting the environment. Their goal is to produce the best wines on this unique terroir. Château La Tour Cordouan is the second wine of the property.

The unique terroir of Château Laujac now covers 110 hectares. The proximity of the Gironde and the Atlantic Ocean creates a microclimate very favorable to the vineyard and the good maturation of the grapes. Soils composed of gravel and clay-limestone allow the development of Merlot which express themselves particularly well on these relatively heavy soils. On the part of Laujac consisting of plio-quaternary formations are the Cabernet Sauvignon reigning master, alongside the Petit Verdot. Cabernet Sauvignon is also the majority grape of Château Laujac. The grape variety is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot & 10% Petit Verdot. At Château Laujac, the culture of the vine is done in the respect of the traditions and the environment thanks to innovative techniques: double guyot pruning, disbudding, leaf stripping, green harvesting, plowing, grassing and natural compost coming from the cattle of the property … The breeding on French oak extends over 12 months during which the wines will be drawn 1 to 2 times. The wines are elaborated to preserve throughout their evolution the flavor of the ripe fruit.

At the tasting, this wine represents all the typicality of Médoc wines: it is robust, has character and will be refined in the coming years. This wine is still quite fruity and supple, it is a pretty ruby ??red and has soft tannins.
