OVERVIEW | This single cask was chosen by Australian Brand Ambassador, Daniel Hutchins-Read who has a great knowledge of Glenrothes and what the distillery can offer. It’s not often we see a single cask Glenrothes being bottled by the distillery direct, this is a bit of whisky history in the making. The spirit was distilled in 2003 and matured for 15 years in a first fill American oak barrel which previously held Spanish Oloroso Sherry. It has been bottled at natural cask strength and the colour alone shows what the barrel has managed to create. There are only 564 bottles of the extremely sought after bottling available, that’s worldwide. It will never be repeated so either tuck it away or savour this incredibly whisky. If you like your whiskies with thick sticky sherry goodness then look no further. Our Tasting NotesNose: Sherry!!! burnt orange, leather and a freshly opened packet of dried figs. Palate: Vanilla fudge and hot jam doughnuts, chocolate orange and walnut biscotti. Clooty dumpling meets creme anglaise. Adding ice or water just ruins it, keep it straight and enjoy it naturally. Finish: We wrote this last week and it’s still hanging around. Sweet sherry goodness mixes with leather and marzipan. |
