The Karuizawa Distillery was founded in 1955 at the foot of the famous active volcano Asama in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, and started operation the following year. Over the years, it has worked quietly with exquisite and traditional distillation techniques. It uses golden barley imported from Scotland to brew whiskey, and uses direct fire heating. It was matured in sherry barrels imported from Spain. Although it has excellent winemaking technology, it still lost to the rapid collapse of the Japanese economy in the 1990s. Due to the impact of the bubble economy, it had to announce the suspension of production in 2000. It was resold in 2007. Kirin Brewing Company was not able to resume the factory, but ushered in the official closure of the factory in 2011; the wonderful taste of Karuizawa single malt whiskey has been sealed in more than 400 barrels of raw wine in the final inventory. In 2011, three companies from Taiwan, Japan (Hua Wei, Yiban), France (LMDW), and the United Kingdom (TWE) jointly purchased all the stocks, and moved them to Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture after a few years to continue maturing. It has been bottled and launched in different versions at a stable speed every year. Because European wine fans have a high degree of recognition for the taste of Karuizawa distilled products, it has been repeatedly affirmed in several whiskey evaluations, and one bottle is less than one bottle.
