The Shinobu Pure Malt 15 Years is a delicious Japanese whiskey from beautiful Japanese Niigata, which is known for its pure water source and for its “Three White” treasures - snow, rice and sake.
The Shinobu is a unique handmade “Pure Malt” whiskey with 43% alcohol content. This one was created by the master blender Mr. Usami. The whiskey undergoes a careful production process. The blends are first aged in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon barrels and then finished with precious Japanese Mizunara oak. Mizunara is an expensive oak that is difficult to manufacture in barrels, but the creator of The Shinobu, master blender Mr. Usami has consciously chosen this. Mizunara brings incredible flavor to Shinobu. This pure malt has matured for no less than 15 years, giving the blend a number of very inspiring properties.
Tasting Notes:
In the glass beautiful amber whiskey makes a nice impression with its harmonious aromas of blueberries, honey, coffee accompanied by ultimate Mizunara oak. Maturation in Mizunara barrels allows you to taste a real 15 year old whiskey with different levels of spiciness. Furthermore, beautiful flavors of lemon zest, ripe fruit, subtle hints of leather, cinnamon and ginger. This sensation of flavors is nicely rounded off by a hint of sweet malt, fruitiness and oak in the long finish.
